For cafés, hotels, restaurants and GCC distributors
Neapolitan espresso for the UAE, starting from its water
Parthenia ships to the UAE from Italy and is looking for cafés, hotels, restaurants and distributors to supply. Our three Neapolitan blends are roasted in Italy and matched to water hardness, and Dubai and Abu Dhabi tap water is soft, so Leucosia is the blend we recommend there. Tell us your emirate, your volumes and how you serve, and we will reply with the formats and terms we can offer.

Why water matters more in the UAE than in most markets
Almost all drinking water in the UAE is desalinated and then remineralised, which makes it soft by European standards. The Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (DEWA) specifies total hardness of 40–120 mg/L as CaCO₃, with a typical figure of 60.7; for the emirate of Abu Dhabi the only official figure is an emirate-wide average of about 50 mg/L (SCAD, 2018). Water is most of what is in the cup, and its mineral content changes how espresso tastes, so a blend chosen for a hard-water city in Europe is being brewed into a very different water here. Hardness is one number; alkalinity, which buffers acidity, is a second and separate one, and we only publish what the utility itself publishes.
Leucosia: the blend we recommend for Dubai and Abu Dhabi
Our three blends are named after the three sirens of the Gulf of Naples: Leucosia for soft water, Parthenope for medium and Ligeia for hard. Both published UAE figures sit in the soft band, so Leucosia is our reference blend for Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The pairing of blend to water is our own design choice, not a proven rule — no peer-reviewed study validates a blend-to-water match, and we say so rather than let you find out later. What you can check to the decimal is the water data, which our city pages cite from the utility that published it. The other emirates publish no hardness figures, so for Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah or Umm Al Quwain we will ask what you know about your supply before recommending anything.
- Leucosia — soft water; the reference blend for Dubai and Abu Dhabi
- Parthenope — medium water
- Ligeia — hard water
What we offer cafés, hotels and restaurants
Neapolitan espresso — a darker roast with a real share of robusta for crema and body — roasted in Italy by a partner roaster to our profiles. We do not own a roastery and we do not claim one. The professional formats are 1 kg beans and ESE pods; ground coffee and compostable capsules exist for retail shelves, guest rooms and staff. A hotel running a lobby café, banqueting and in-room coffee can tell us all three uses in one inquiry, and we will say which formats we can supply for each.
- 1 kg whole beans for espresso machines
- ESE pods for service points without a grinder
- Ground coffee and compostable capsules for retail and in-room use
Distribution and private label in the GCC
We are looking for distribution partners in the UAE and across the GCC who already sell into cafés, hotels or specialty retail. What you get that no other Italian coffee brand hands you is an argument a buyer can check: the hardness their utility publishes, with the source named, and the blend we recommend for it. Exclusivity, volumes and terms are a conversation, not a form letter. We also produce coffee under your own brand, roasted in Italy to Neapolitan profiles — tell us the format and the market and we will tell you what is possible.
How it works
We ship to the UAE from Italy. Every inquiry starts with a conversation rather than a price list.
- Inquiry — tell us your venue or territory, your emirate, how you brew and the volumes you expect.
- Water check — we look up the published hardness for your location and name the blend we recommend, saying plainly where no data exists.
- Samples and terms — we discuss samples, formats, documentation and terms, and tell you what we can supply, how and when.
Formats
- Whole beans · 1 kg01
- ESE pods02
Pods and capsules are compostable. Aluminium is somebody else's argument.
What happens when you write
- You tell us where you are and how you serve. The recommendation starts from the water in your postcode, so the city matters more than the volume at this stage.
- We reply with the conditions: minimum order, lead times, formats and how to get samples. In the first reply, not after three emails.
- If the fit is not there, we say so straight away. A supplier who spends your time before telling you no has cost you more than one who never answered.
Questions we get asked
- Do you deliver coffee beans in the UAE?
- Yes. We ship to the UAE from Italy. Tell us your volumes, your emirate and how you serve, and we will reply with the formats and terms we can offer. We do not publish delivery times on this page; they are part of that reply.
- Is your coffee halal certified, and can you provide import documentation?
- Ask us. Tell us which documents your buyer, municipality or importer requires and we will tell you exactly what we can document and what we cannot, before anything is ordered.
- Which blend should a café in Dubai use?
- We recommend Leucosia. DEWA specifies total hardness of 40–120 mg/L as CaCO₃, typically 60.7, which is soft water, and Leucosia is our blend for soft water. The recommendation is our judgement; the water figure is DEWA's.
- Will the blend help with limescale in our machines?
- No. No coffee blend affects limescale: scale is a matter of the water and its treatment, not of the beans. Talk to your machine technician about filtration.
- Do you work with distributors in the GCC?
- Yes, that is one of the reasons this page exists. If you already sell into cafés, hotels or retail in the UAE or elsewhere in the GCC, tell us your territory and channels, and we will discuss whether the fit is real.
- Do you roast the coffee yourselves?
- No. Parthenia is roasted in Italy by a partner roaster to our Neapolitan profiles. We say it here because a supplier who implies a plant they do not have is one you stop trusting at the first audit.
